An outdoor tap that drips or won’t shut off wastes water and can freeze in winter.
Step 1: Turn off the water supply to the outdoor tap inside the house.
Step 2: Unscrew the tap handle and remove the headgear with a spanner.
Step 3: Replace the washer at the bottom of the headgear.
Step 4: Reassemble and turn water back on.
Step 5: Insulate the tap with an outdoor tap cover before winter.
