A blocked sink is one of the most common household problems and one of the easiest to fix yourself.
Method 1: Boiling Water
Pour a full kettle slowly down the drain in three stages. This melts grease and dissolves soap buildup.
Method 2: Plunger
Block the overflow hole with a wet cloth. Fill the sink with a few inches of water. Place the sink plunger directly over the drain. Push down and pull up rapidly ten times. Lift quickly on the final pull.
Method 3: Baking Soda and Vinegar
Pour half a cup of baking soda followed by half a cup of white vinegar. Cover and wait 30 minutes. Flush with hot water.
Method 4: Hair Clog Remover
Insert a drain snake into the drain, twist and pull slowly to hook the hair clog. Repeat several times.
Method 5: Clean the P-trap
Place a bucket under the P-trap. Unscrew both slip nuts. Remove and clean the trap. Reassemble and test.
